Newbie webmasters commonly mix up web hosting and domains. A web domain does not mean you have any space in which your site will live on. It is just a www. web extension. They can have all kinds of extensions, such as, .com, .net, .info, .ws. ect. True web hosting providers do sell domains with their services like Godaddy, but that does not mean you have to host your site there if you do not want to. In fact, people are commonly buying web domains at one registrar, and then hosting them on a separate web hosting plan.
Uptime and Web Hosting
A legit web hosting service cannot promise that they will guarantee a 100% up time. If you do run across a web service that does promise this, they are being deceitful; I would suggest that you take your business elsewhere. However, most companies will claim to have a 99.5% up time, which is more realistic. Also, you have to pay close attention to some hosting services, because some will actually lock you into a contract without you knowing it.
